   I don’t drink. I don’t like the taste. I’m so glad, I have seen family and friends destroy their lives and bodies with alcohol.

   I have never wanted to drink. I was involved in a car accident when I was about 5 or 6 years old and my twin brother almost died because of it. It was back in the 70s before seat belts and he was thrown into the seat in front of him and cut his head open. Luckily i wasn’t hurt. My dad and the man that we hit were drinking. I haven’t forgotten that. I also watched my dad drink as I grew older. I just don’t have the desire to be around alcohol and I can only explain feeling that way because I almost lost my brother because of it and seeing how it affected my dad who now has dementia and I believe alcohol helped contribute to that as well.

   I choose not to drink alcohol because I don’t want to lose my inhibition. I want to be a good example to others by being aware of my actions and making good choices. I don’t want a substance like alcohol to make me do something that I will regret later. Alcohol has torn apart so many lives and families. We have so many beverage options, there is no need to choose alcohol.
