My family tradition is to watch the Macy’s thanksgiving day parade. This year my husband is deployed for the real thanksgiving so we celebrated early and did our thanksgiving at the beginning of October before he left. To make it feel like the real holiday I gathered our kids in the living room and picked a random parade from the past to watch. I decided on the parade from 2000 because I figured it would be fun to see the performances from when I was in high school. When we started watching my children pointed out that it was the last parade before the September 11th attacks. When the cameras panned over the city you could see the twin towers in the background. It was neat, but also a little sad to be honest.
