My husband was diagnosed with osteoporosis several years ago after he just tripped over a clod of dirt. He cracked his ribs when he fell. Osteoporosis runs in his family. The doctors at that time had him doing daily injections of Forteo for 2 years. It helps build bone mass. He also takes Calcium daily. The last time he went for a bone density test, they told him that they don’t see osteoporosis at this point. I’m not sure that means he’s healed because I don’t think that is possible but he is definitely better. He hasn’t broken any more bones at this point. Sending positive thoughts and healing prayers!!!

Aww good luck you’ve got this. I go for my bone density exam on March 8th had one 3 years ago and I scored above average. Hopefully, it will be near that. My Mom had osteoporosis and took infusions for it. I take vitamin D3 and have taken it for 20 years but I need to work on my calcium also. Take care! You sound like you’re on top of things 😊

Can I ask the name of the infusion? I have osteoporosis and take Prolia. I’ve been taking it for about 7 years and so far haven’t had any issues with it. Wishing you the very best.

Stay positive. Stay diligent. Be open with your medical team with how you truly feel. Be open with your family and friends with information and with how you are really doing. Some days will be better than others, and you may need a bit of help. And it may change from a good day to a not so good day in the blink of an eye. Your “village” will be there to lend support. No shame in needing help. Thank you for using your diagnosis and your platform to inform and enlighten others.

I have worked in orthopedics for many years. I have understood the test for osteoporosis is called either a bone density test or a dexascan. A bone scan is typically a nuclear medicine test with dye. Just wanted the verbage correct for those asking their physician about it.

I have my 2nd infusion of Reclast also on February 10. Nothing to worry about. Take some Tylenol a few hours before hand. I had no problems with first infusion. I’ll be thinking of you while I’m getting mine.
