    I started making my own vanilla extract in 2022. I used a variety of liquors (bourbon, brandy, spiced rum, dark rum). The traditional liquor used is vodka. The spiced rum smelled heavenly once it was ready. After you are done with the vanilla beans, you can take them and place them in an airtight container with sugar. Great little added touch to your holiday baking!
